Brookings-Harbor School District Announces Updated Summer Meal Program for July 2025
Brookings, Ore. — June 25, 2025 — Brookings‑Harbor School District (BHSD) is launching an updated Summer Food Service Program on Tuesday, July 1, 2025, introducing a hybrid, non‑congregate meal model designed to better serve local families.
- On‑site lunch will be offered 10:45 a.m.–12:15 p.m., Monday–Thursday, through July 31.
- Students can take lunch to go if they’d prefer to eat elsewhere.
- Breakfast bags will be available to grab during lunch, ideal for kids to take home and enjoy the next morning.
“Attendance at the morning service was low, so after coordinating with the State of Oregon, we’ve switched to a non‑congregate model,” said Food Services Director Cindy DeVos. “This ensures healthy meals are still accessible—but more convenient—by allowing breakfast bags and lunch pick‑up to go.”
- Meals are free for children ages 1–18, no sign-up needed.
- Adults may join for $6 (no sharing from children's meals; adult plates must be purchased).
Meal Highlights (July menu): Piggy Nachos, Walking Tacos, Monte Cristo, Meaty Lasagna, plus breakfast bag items like fruit, juice, 1% milk, cereal or breakfast entrées (burritos, biscuit & gravy, parfait cups).
- Lunch is served in the high school cafeteria (back parking lot entrance at 629 Easy St.).
- Snack Packs, supplied by Brookings‑Harbor Community Helpers food bank, are also available onsite and via the BOB Bus route on Wednesdays.
Funded by the USDA, this program ensures children continue receiving nutritious meals during school breaks. For updated July menus or more details, contact Cindy DeVos at (541) 469‑2108 x8 or [email protected].
