2022 Summer Food Program Information

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE - June 17, 2022

BROOKINGS, Ore. — The Brookings-Harbor School District 2022 Summer Food Program will begin on Monday, June 27, and continue until Thursday, July 28.

The program provides free healthy meals to children, aged 18 and younger, at no cost. This vital program aims to reach as many families as possible with nutritious food during the summer break, by providing free meals to students enrolled in summer school programs and daily walk-ins. Youth do not need to be enrolled in BHSD17 to participate or receive food. Adults may eat with their children for a fee of $3 for breakfast or $4.50 for lunch payable in cash at the cafeteria.

On Mondays, Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays, breakfast and lunch meals are available at the Brookings-Harbor High School cafeteria, located at 625 Pioneer Rd, Brookings. Entry to the cafeteria area is from the student parking lot off Easy Street. Breakfast is served from 8:30 to 9:15 a.m. and lunch is served from 11:45 to 12:30 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays. The free meals program will not operate on Monday, July 4, in observance of the Independence Day Holiday.

The "Bites of Brookings" or “BOB” Bus will have four regular stops on Wednesdays this summer from June 29 to July 27 for youth to visit the bus in their neighborhood for a dine-in experience on the bus. The bus will also distribute Snack Packs provided by the Brookings Harbor Community Helpers Emergency Food Bank.
