WW2 Exhibit Returns, Historical Society Raises Funds for Local History Textbook

The Brookings-Harbor High School WWII exhibit, "The Remembrance of World War II," went back on display just in time for Veterans Day weekend at the Chetco Valley Historical Society Museum, 15461 Museum Rd, Brookings, OR 97415. This popular exhibit created last spring by 60 BHHS students under the instruction of Ms. Kelly Garvin was previously displayed at the Oregon Historical Society in downtown Portland in August and debuted at Sea View Senior Living Community for the Azalea Days Festival and Memorial Day 2018.

This encore showing that just wrapped up over the weekend is the beginning of the newly formed Brookings-Harbor High School Historical Society (a student club) working in partnership with the Chetco Valley Museum to help digitalize their history, work on community projects together, and create additional exhibits.

The WWII exhibit was in conjunction with the Museum’s membership drive. The museum agreed to donate $10 for every two members that sign-up to the school’s historical society to fund additional copies of "Chetco: The story of a river and its people” textbook by Mike Adams for the BHHS Local History class, and to provide a budget for creating the next exhibit which will feature the history of Brookings-Harbor School District and it’s famous alumni.
